Hello

I used to have years ago a Sigma 105mm macro on Canon mount on a crop rebel. I loved that lens. Super super sharp. It did not adapt well when I moved to Fuji for a while, so sold it. I've not had a macro lens since.

The Z 24-120 has some close focus capabilities which are impressive, but it's not the same league as my old Sigma. In the spring and summer months, I miss that capability. That sigma was insanely sharp too.

The Z 105mm macro seems awesome, but is £800-900 used. I have the Z 24-120 and 14-30 and recently a few months ago got a Z8. I do require a Z telephoto so need to be sensible with money. So I was thinking to save some money and grab the now very cheap, used F mount 105mm macro.

I read it's inferior to my old Sigma due to focus breathing, but I think it's a safer bet through the FTZ.

For not that frequent, lacking experience macro learning, will the F mount be sufficient? Anybody tried both on a Z?

you might consider a Laowa 100mm F2.8 2:1 magnification, for nikon-z ... i have the f version and it is really rather good (british understatement!)

I guess the Z8 will be better than my Z6 for insects and such due to the focus capability and ability to crop in.
