Taylor Swift fans review how safe resale sites are as many scramble for tickets (2024)

Tickets to Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour sold out almost immediately when they went on sale back in August last year. Since then, die hard Swifites and casual Love Story listeners alike have been clamouring to get their hands on admission to the highly-anticipated music event of the year.

While tickets from official retailers such as Ticketmaster and AXS went within minutes, a new market has since opened up, as the Mirror reports. Fans of Taylor can purchase official resale tickets from Ticketmaster and AXS or purchase them from secondary sites such as Viagogo and Vivid Seats.

If you do choose to buy tickets in the secondary market, we recommend you read the terms and conditions from these websites carefully. Many event promoters say tickets should not be resold after initial purchase and will not be valid for admittance to gigs.

Fans attending live events with tickets acquired through resale websites are advised to double check the ticket terms and conditions at the point of sale - such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation - to ensure a smooth live event experience. Tickets could be voided if they were found to be bought second-hand. As a result, fans are buying at their own risk.

Having said all that, with demand as high as it is lots of fans are still turning to resale to see the gig. So we've broken down a collection of retailers fans can buy Taylor Swift tickets from right now. We've also included some reviews from punters on review website Trustpilot who have actually used these services and their experiences. Here's what you need to know.

Ticketmaster

Ticketmaster is one of the few official retailers for Taylor Swift tickets. As a result, it is one of the only official ways to acquire access to The Eras Tour. It has a Trustpilot score of 4.0 (out of 5).

Although all of the tickets have been sold, the retailer does have a resale option for when fans want to sell off the tickets they can no longer use. However, like with all retailers, fans have had mixed experiences with the online seller. Here's the reviews:

"The Ticketmaster aspect of this outing worked very well. The tickets were easily booked, we received regular updates and the tickets delivered in good time. They were easy to transfer to an Apple wallet or to another member of the party and worked smoothly at the event." (User Mr Brian Davison)

"Booked seats easily, then had to re-book due to no lifts to grand circle. However, it was very easy and I was lucky to get some stalls tickets near the aisle and re-sell the original tickets. Payment for these also came quickly. So would definitely recommend Ticketmaster." (User Claire)

"Ticket wouldn't scan despite being in the Ticketmaster app. Had to go to the ticket office twice who couldn't give me a real ticket because it's Ticketmaster's policy to only allow tickets on the app. In the end they could see it was a genuine ticket as I logged into the app in front of the security staff and the could see the moving refresh screen." (sic) (User Donna Baxter)

"I bought two tickets for Elephant Sessions gig in Aberdeen, at separate times. Ticketmaster have taken multiple emails back and forth and wasted hours of my time trying to locate the second ticket. It seems their system is a shambles as they cannot see their own tickets and I now have someone traveling 300 miles to see an event with me and have only one ticket. Terrible experience." (User Steven Gray)

AXS

AXS is another of the official Taylor Swift ticket retailers and is also one of the world's biggest music promotion companies. It has a Trustpilot score of 4.0. Here's the reviews from fans:

"My first time using this company and the access team did not disappoint. I called just before tickets went on sale and got through to the lovely Ken who booked me in and made sure that the seating matched my requirements and I was comfortable with the order before taking payment-nice and straight forward. I then called again on the afternoon and spoke to Mohammad to verify my access and sort the carer ticket out who again was a pleasure to deal with and got me sorted very quickly. both of them were amazing so thank you for assisting me :)" (User Aoife McKeown)

"Helpful friendly and polite member of staff (Ken) who clearly understands the needs of of those of us who have various disabilities. Tickets easily booked and stress free." (User Glen)

"Still awaiting barcode tickets to appear in the AXS App for Springsteen at Stadium of Light, Sunderland. Would appreciate contact to resolve this ASAP please as the event is less than a week away, getting quite concerned." (User AMD)

"So uploaded requested documents to hyperwallet, hadn't heard anything for ages so uploaded them again. Unfortunately trust pilot seems the only way to talk to AXS UK. Don't think I will ever see my money. Just send a cheque or pay into my bank as this hyperwallet thing isn't working. Getting very very fed up with seeing my money in the sold tickets bit." (sic) (User James Smith)

Viagogo

Viagogo is one of the most popular resale sites on the internet although its Trustpilot score is 1.7. Having sold millions of tickets worldwide, Viagogo is synonymous with live music events and second-hand tickets.

As it is the largest ticket reseller on the internet, Viagogo arguably has the biggest selection of tickets in the world. But that also means there have been varied responses, with the brand recently being put in the spotlight by The One Show for leaving some fans disappointed. Here are the reviews:

"Bought two standing tickets for Tenacious D Nottingham through Viagogo, would 100% recommend. I saw the reviews after I purchased the tickets, so I was a bit worried. I received the tickets a few days before the event, was exactly what was paid for. Really enjoyed the event." (User Josh Weigh)

"I had ordered row-end theatre tickets for reasons connected to my personal needs. The agency were unable to supply such, so instead issued mid row tickets which I was unable to use. When I brought this to their attention (after the event) the tickets were refunded promptly and in full. Some consolation for being unable to attend." (User Paul Crouch)

"Under no circ*mstances use this company. Bought two tickets to see the Black Keys at the Co-Op live arena. Venue wasn’t ready so it was rescheduled. I couldn’t make the new date and they refused to give refund stating that I had to sell them instead. I tried to use their system to sell them but it wouldn’t work. Reported it, but they did nothing, emails were a dead end, impossible to get hold of anyone on phone. I repeat do not use Viagogo." (User Joanne Macnair)

"Bought (for us) two very expensive Peter Kay tickets. Postponed twice and couldn’t make the 23/05 event as on holiday. No help, no refund, tickets up for sale on their website. We stand to lose around £300 through using this company if they do not sell. Customer service, not a bot but little better." (User Ray Anderson)

Vivid Seats

Vivid Seats is another powerful ticket reseller website and has a Trustpilot rating of 4.1. Much like Viagogo, it contains an incredible array of tickets available for fans to purchase right now.

"I enjoy having the opportunity to get seats from resale, without extremely dramatic price swings like what things used to be. Also, being able to conveniently sort through seat options efficiently with the seat picking system implemented is highly appreciated. However, the fees still feel just a tad too steep nonetheless." (User Ron B)

"Could not believe those tickets were really real until I was accepted into the room and walked up to my spot. This was a once in a lifetime experience, I still cannot process the fact that it actually happened. So expensive but so worth it." (User EGL)

"Vivid Seats has been a horrible experience that feels scammy. Horrible customer service, I’ve been wrongly told different terms and conditions when asking questions, bought 10 tickets but did not get my 11th for free and overall insane fees. After being a loyal customer for a year while I got my rewards up it took two weeks of me calling for help to decide I will not use vivid seats again." (User customer)

"They charged me twice for the tickets. Cancelled my order twice. There is over $3000 frozen on my account waiting on refund and no tickets. My old mailing address is in your system from before the fire on maui. They said it makes my credentials wrong. They had no problem using my new address on my bank card to complete the charges but couldn't update and remove my old address from previous activity. My money is gone twice and no tickets and game is tonight here in okc." (User William Cullen)

StubHub

StubHub is another powerful ticket resale tool that fans have come to know and love and has a Trustpilot score of 4.3. While it has a strong brand, with many fans being left thrilled after using it, there are some critics.

"We purchased tickets to see Taylor Swift in Paris and were very happy with the service. We were thrilled to be able to get tickets a few days before the show and although a bit nervous about the validity of the tickets, the StubHubfan protection reassured us and everything went really well." (User Fadia)

"Had a minor query so emailed StubHub customer services and within 5 minutes I received a call from them (Sergio C.) with the answer and, not only did they give me the answer, they also offered to make the necessary changes on my behalf. Sergio was really good and made the call a pleasure rather than a chore. This is what I call 'real' customer service unlike many other companies I've had the displeasure of dealing with and who use the term 'customer service' lightly." (User Brian Degnan)

"Sent Premier League tickets that had were clearly fraudulent. Team have been very helpful but the procedure they have to follow is to contact seller to check again to give him a chance. He sent more tickets (only time was wrong this time) and not the format advertised. Now they are contacting him again but we have no confidence in this seller. Would just like refund at this stage to find tickets elsewhere but have to wait till process plays out which has no timeframe. Trust pilot is only way to make a complaint." (User CJ Morris)

"Shocking and very disappointing. Ordered take that tickets for 27th April and got a email at 21.10pm on 26th saying tickets were not available now and badly let me and my daughter down for 27th. Not impressed and poor communications from them" (User Boz).

Twickets

Twickets has built a powerful community within its website and app and has a Trustpilot score of 4.6. By capping prices on tickets, fans can sell and buy access to their favourite music artists safe in the knowledge they aren't being ripped off.

"A really great service and perfect for true fans who don't want to get stung by hiked up prices. The ability to set up alerts for concerts is also brilliant and means you'll never miss an opportunity to nab those tickets. We were fortunate enough to get front row tickets to our chosen concert and didn't pay more than the face value and the nominal Twickets fee. Outstanding." (User Caroline)

"Unfortunately my tickets for the event never arrived. I got in contact with Twickets straight away and had a reply within the hour. Morning after the event they contacted me and asked if they had arrived to which I said no. I was refunded instantly. Customer service was brilliant." (User Consumer)

"Really disappointed with Twickets. Due to illness, we had a single ticket for Keanes Hopes and Fears 20 event in Bournemouth. This was one of a pair of on line tickets sent as a PDF. As I couldn’t completely erase the ticket I was using from the PDF and Twickets won’t accept screenshots (even though they say they’ll take JPEG files) I couldn’t list it. The original ticket provider made it a condition of resale to use Twickets too. Very underwhelming." (User Mark Welch)

"Very disappointed in Twickets, I have bought a number of tickets from them in the past then suddenly I am restricted from buying tickets. I've explained multiple times to customer service that my sibling who lives at the same address as me is also a user of Twickets but their detection system has now detected that I may be a re-seller. Completely understandable but I have tried to explain this and after months and years of trying to speak to customer service and offering proof of IDs and addresses, I have been given automated messages and ignored. Not too sure what else I can do to prove my case and the way it has been handled has been sadly very disappointing." (User Roger Chin).
